Eoceratops
EE-oh-SERR-ah-tops /ˌiːoʊˈsɛrətɒps/
Accepted genus
dawn horned face
- eos · Greek · dawn
- keras · Greek · horn
- ops · Greek · face
The name combines Greek roots for "dawn", "horn" and "face". It means "dawn horned face". It was chosen because this was an early, older-looking horned dinosaur relative to later ceratopsids such as Triceratops.

A chasmosaurine ceratopsid; the type species is Eoceratops canadensis. Its validity and its relationship to Chasmosaurus have been debated. Some researchers have treated it as very close to, or part of, Chasmosaurus. I am not fully certain of its current status or of every detail here.
