Eolambia
EE-oh-LAM-bee-ah /ˌiːoʊˈlæmbiə/
Accepted genus
dawn Lambe (dawn lambeosaur)
- eos · Greek · dawn
- Lambe · Latinised surname · after Lawrence Lambe, the Canadian paleontologist for whom the hadrosaur Lambeosaurus is also named
Eolambia means roughly "dawn Lambe", combining the Greek word for dawn with a reference to Lambeosaurus (honouring Lawrence Lambe). It was chosen because this early, primitive hadrosauroid appeared to come from near the dawn of the duck-billed dinosaur radiation. The type species is E. caroljonesa, named after Carol Jones.
