Centrosaurus
SEN-troh-SORE-us /ˌsɛntroʊˈsɔːrəs/
Accepted genus
pointed lizard
- kentron · Greek · point, sharp spike
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name combines the Greek "kentron" (point or spike) with "sauros" (lizard). It was chosen by Lawrence Lambe because of the prominent horn on the nose and the small hooks and spikes on the frill. The "pointed lizard" refers to these horn-like structures.
