Adelolophus
ad-EL-oh-LOH-fus /ˌædˌɛloʊˈloʊfəs/
Accepted genus
hidden crest
- adelos · Greek · hidden, unseen, obscure
- lophos · Greek · crest
The name combines the Greek "adelos" (hidden or obscure) with "lophos" (crest). It was given to a hadrosaurid known from fragmentary skull material, in which a crest, if one was present, is not preserved or evident. The species name, A. hutchisoni, honours paleontologist J. Howard Hutchison.

A hadrosaurid (duck-billed dinosaur) known from limited, fragmentary remains, so its exact relationships are less certain. The etymology wording is my best recollection of the original description; treat the fine detail with some caution.
