Shuangmiao lizard
- Shuangmiao · Chinese (place name) · Shuangmiao, the locality in China where the fossils were found
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name combines Shuangmiao, the place in China where the fossils were found, with the Greek word for lizard, "sauros". It therefore means "Shuangmiao lizard". The only named species, S. gilmorei, honours the paleontologist Charles Gilmore.
