Morosaurus

MOR-oh-SORE-us /ˌmɒrəˈsɔːrəs/

Synonym of Camarasaurus

stupid lizard (or dull lizard)

  • moros · Greek · dull, stupid, foolish
  • sauros · Greek · lizard

The name combines the Greek "moros" (dull or stupid) with "sauros" (lizard). O. C. Marsh coined it for a sauropod from the Morrison Formation, and the name is usually taken to allude to the animal's small brain relative to its body size. The genus is now regarded as the same animal as Camarasaurus.
