Anodontosaurus
an-OH-don-toh-SORE-us /ænˌoʊdɒntəˈsɔːrəs/
Accepted genus
toothless lizard
- an- · Greek · without
- odontos · Greek · tooth
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name means "toothless lizard". Sternberg chose it because the original specimen, a skull and skeleton, seemed to lack teeth. This was probably because the teeth weren't preserved, not because the animal had none. Anodontosaurus was a club-tailed ankylosaurid.

The type species is Anodontosaurus lambei. For many years the genus was treated as a junior synonym of Euoplocephalus. Arbour and Currie (2013) reassessed the material and restored it as a distinct, valid genus. Its exact stage range is given with moderate confidence.
