Anserimimus
AN-sur-ih-MY-mus /ˌænsərɪˈmaɪməs/
Accepted genus
goose mimic
- anser · Latin · goose
- mimus · Latin (from Greek mimos) · mimic
The name combines the Latin "anser" (goose) with "mimus" (mimic), giving "goose mimic". It was given to this ornithomimid, or "bird-mimic" dinosaur, because of a resemblance to geese. The resemblance is reported to be in the muscle attachments of its hindlimb. The type species is Anserimimus planinychus.
