Adeopapposaurus
ah-DAY-oh-pap-oh-SORE-us /ɑˌdeɪoʊpæpoʊˈsɔːrəs/
Accepted genus
"grandfather lizard" (with an uncertain first element, "adeo")
- pappos · Greek · grandfather, ancestor
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name ends in the Greek "pappos" (grandfather, ancestor) and "sauros" (lizard), so it refers to an early, ancestral kind of long-necked dinosaur. The first element "adeo" is, as I recall, a word from a local indigenous language of the region, but I am not certain of its exact meaning. The type species is A. mognai.
