Yuanchuavis
yoo-an-CHOO-ah-vis /juˌæntʃuˈɑvɪs/
Accepted genus
Yuanchu bird
- Yuanchu · Chinese · first element of the name; I'm not certain of its exact reference
- avis · Latin · bird
The name ends in the Latin "avis", meaning "bird". That fits an early bird known from the Jehol Biota of northeastern China. I can't reliably confirm what "Yuanchu" refers to, so I haven't guessed.

Yuanchuavis is a fossil bird, probably an enantiornithine. Its type species is Y. kompsosoura, which is known for a long, pintail-like tail. Birds are avian dinosaurs. I'm unsure of the exact formation, the stage and the author list. I'm also unsure of the root "Yuanchu".
