Accepted genus
Yuanjiawa bird
- Yuanjiawa · Chinese (place name) · Yuanjiawa, the locality in Liaoning, China where the fossil was found
- ornis · Greek · bird
The name combines Yuanjiawa, the locality in Liaoning Province, northeastern China, where the fossil was found, with the Greek "ornis", meaning "bird". It therefore means "bird from Yuanjiawa". It was named for an early fossil bird, an enantiornithine, from the Early Cretaceous.

An enantiornithine bird. Birds are living dinosaurs, so it counts as a dinosaur in the modern sense. The type species is Yuanjiawaornis viriosus. I am less sure of the exact formation, stage, author list and year, so I have left them out.
