Accepted genus
Menefee horned face
- Menefee · English (place name) · the Menefee Formation, New Mexico
- keras · Greek · horn
- ops · Greek · face
The name combines "Menefee", the Menefee Formation in New Mexico where the fossils were found, with the Greek words for "horn" and "face", a common ending for horned ceratopsian dinosaurs. It literally refers to the "horned face from the Menefee". The only named species, M. sealeyi, honours Paul Sealey, a volunteer who helped find the fossils.
