Lourinhanosaurus
loor-in-YAH-no-SORE-us /ˌlʊərɪnˌjɑːnoʊˈsɔːrəs/
Accepted genus
Lourinhã lizard
- Lourinhã · Portuguese (place name) · Lourinhã, a town and municipality in Portugal
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name combines Lourinhã, the town and region in western Portugal near where the fossils were found, with the Greek word for "lizard". It therefore refers to the place of discovery. The only species, L. antunesi, honours the Portuguese palaeontologist Miguel Telles Antunes.

A theropod dinosaur, generally regarded as a basal allosauroid or other basal tetanuran; its exact placement is debated. It should not be confused with the sauropod Lourinhasaurus. Eggs with embryos from the same area have been attributed to it. The exact stage range is given with moderate confidence.
