Daliansaurus
dah-lee-an-SORE-us /ˌdɑːliænˈsɔːrəs/
Accepted genus
Dalian lizard
- Dalian · Chinese (place name) · Dalian, a city in Liaoning Province, China
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name combines Dalian, a city in Liaoning Province, China, with the Greek word for "lizard". It is a place-based name. It most likely refers to the Dalian connection of the type specimen, which I haven't been able to confirm.

The type species is Daliansaurus liaoningensis, a small feathered theropod usually classed as a troodontid. Don't confuse it with Dalianraptor, a different Liaoning genus. I'm only moderately sure of the authorship, year and classification. The etymology is inferred from the name's structure.
