Peishansaurus
pay-SHAN-sore-us /peɪˈʃænsɔːrəs/
Nomen dubium
Peishan lizard
- Peishan · Chinese · Beishan (White Mountain), a region in Gansu, China
- saurus · Greek · lizard
The name combines "Peishan" (an older Wade-Giles romanisation of "Beishan," meaning "North Mountain" or referring to the Beishan region of Gansu Province, China) with the Greek word "sauros" meaning lizard. It was named for the geographic area in China where the fossil material was discovered. The name thus translates roughly as "Peishan lizard."

Peishansaurus philemys was named by Birger Bohlin in 1953 on the basis of very fragmentary material (a partial lower jaw). It is generally considered a nomen dubium because the remains are too incomplete to confidently diagnose the genus. It has tentatively been classified as an ankylosaur (Ankylosauria), but its exact affinities remain uncertain.
