The name combines the surname Krzyzanowski, honouring a person of that name connected with Triassic fossil work in the southwestern USA, with the Greek word for lizard. It was coined as a new genus for teeth that had earlier been placed in Revueltosaurus. The species is Krzyzanowskisaurus hunti.

Not a true dinosaur. It was first described from teeth as an ornithischian dinosaur (as Revueltosaurus hunti), but Revueltosaurus and its relatives are now regarded as pseudosuchian archosaurs, related to the crocodile line. It is known mostly from teeth and fragmentary remains. I am unsure of the full details of the person honoured.
