Fylax
FY-lax /ˈfaɪlæks/
Accepted genus
guardian
- Fylax (phylax) · Greek · guard, guardian
Fylax comes from the Greek word "phylax", meaning "guard" or "guardian". The type species, Fylax thyrus, adds "thyrus" (gate), so the full name is usually rendered as "guardian of the gate". I'm not certain of the exact reason the authors chose it, so treat that part with caution.

I recall this as a hadrosauroid (duck-billed dinosaur) from the Late Cretaceous of the Iberian Peninsula. The author, year, locality and meaning are from memory and should be checked against the original description.
