Magnapaulia
MAG-nuh-PAWL-ee-uh /ˌmæɡnəˈpɔːliə/
Accepted genus
"great Paulia" (large Paulia)
- magna · Latin · great, large
- Paulia · Latin · a Latinized personal-name element (Paul)
The name combines the Latin "magna" (great or large) with "Paulia", a personal-name element. The "large" part refers to the animal's very big size: it was one of the largest known lambeosaurine hadrosaurs. The genus was created for the species originally described as Lambeosaurus laticaudus ("broad tail"), whose deep tail is also notable.

A lambeosaurine (crested) hadrosaurid. The type species, Magnapaulia laticaudus, was first described by Morris in 1981 as Lambeosaurus laticaudus and moved to its own genus in 2012. I am not certain who the "Paulia" element honors, so I have not guessed.
