Gandititan
gan-dee-TIE-tan /ˌɡændɪˈtaɪtæn/
Accepted genus
Not confirmed for the first element; the second element means 'giant'
- titan · Greek · giant (the Titans of Greek myth)
Gandititan appears to be a titanosaurian sauropod. The ending "-titan" comes from the Greek Titans, which is the usual way to name large sauropods. I'm not certain what the "Gandi-" part refers to, so I haven't given a meaning for it.
- Period
- Late Cretaceous
I recognise this as a titanosaurian sauropod genus (type species Gandititan cavocaudatus). I'm not confident about the author, year, locality, stage or the origin of "Gandi-", so I've left those fields blank rather than guess. Please check a primary source.
