Eugongbusaurus
yoo-GONG-boo-SORE-us /juˌɡɒŋbuˈsɔːrəs/
true Gongbu lizard
- eu · Greek · true, good
- Gongbu · Chinese (place name) · Gongbu (Gongbujiangda), Tibet
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name means roughly "true Gongbu lizard". It combines the Greek prefix "eu" (true or good) with Gongbusaurus, a genus named after Gongbu (Gongbujiangda) in Tibet, plus the Greek "sauros" (lizard). The "true" prefix marks this small ornithopod as a genus separate from the original Gongbusaurus, which it was once placed in as Gongbusaurus wucaiwanensis.

- Shishugou Formation, Wucaiwan area, Xinjiang, China
Small basal ornithopod. The species was first described as Gongbusaurus wucaiwanensis (Dong, 1989) and later moved to its own genus. Gongbusaurus and its relatives are poorly known, so the validity and exact classification of both genera are debated. I am not certain who coined Eugongbusaurus or when, so those fields are left blank.
