Ultrasaurus
ul-truh-SORE-us /ˌʌltrəˈsɔːrəs/
Nomen dubium
ultra lizard ("beyond lizard")
- ultra · Latin · beyond, extreme
- sauros · Greek · lizard
Ultrasaurus combines the Latin "ultra" (beyond or extreme) with the Greek "sauros" (lizard). It was chosen to suggest an exceptionally large sauropod. The type species, U. tabriensis, is named after the Tabri area of South Korea where it was found.

Ultrasaurus tabriensis is a poorly supported sauropod genus, generally treated as a nomen dubium. Its remains may include material from more than one animal. Do not confuse it with Ultrasauros macintoshi (Jensen, 1985), a differently spelled name for a chimera of Colorado material. That material is now mostly referred to Supersaurus plus another brachiosaurid. Details such as the exact stage and formation are uncertain, so I have left them blank.
