- ōps · Greek · face
Udanoceratops is named after the Udan Sayr locality in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia, where the fossils were found, combined with the Greek words for "horn" and "face". The "-ceratops" ending is widely used for horned dinosaurs. The name therefore means roughly "Udan Sayr horned face".

A valid genus of early horned dinosaur (ceratopsian), known from the type species Udanoceratops tschizhovi. It was a fairly large, hornless relative of Protoceratops. The exact formation it came from has been debated, so that detail is left out here.
