Saraikimasoom
sah-RYE-kee-mah-SOOM /ˌsɑːˌraɪkiːməˈsuːm/
Accepted genus
innocent Saraiki
- Saraiki · Saraiki · the Saraiki people and language of the region of Pakistan
- masoom · Urdu/Saraiki · innocent
The name combines "Saraiki", the people and language of the region in Pakistan where the fossils were found, with "masoom", meaning "innocent". It honours the local Saraiki culture. I'm not certain of the exact reason the authors gave for choosing "masoom".
- Period
- Late Cretaceous
- Found in
- Pakistan (Balochistan region)
My recollection is that this is a titanosaurian sauropod from Pakistan, with the type species S. vitakri. I'm not confident about the details, including the author, year, exact stage and formation, so I have left those blank. Please check them against a primary source.
