The name ends in the Greek "sauros", meaning lizard, which is the usual ending for dinosaur names. The first part, "Koutalis", is a proper name. I could not confirm whether it honours a person or a place, so I haven't guessed. The type species is Koutalisaurus kohlerorum.
- Period

- Tremp Formation, Catalonia, Spain
Koutalisaurus is a hadrosaurid (duck-billed dinosaur) from the latest Cretaceous of the Pyrenees region. It is known from fragmentary remains, and its relationship to the related Pararhabdodon has been debated. Several of the fields I left blank, such as the authors, the year and the exact etymology, are ones I'm not certain of.
