Dollodon
DOL-oh-don /ˈdɒloʊdɒn/
Synonym of Mantellisaurus
Dollo's tooth
- Dollo · Surname (Latinised) · Louis Dollo, Belgian palaeontologist
- odon · Greek · tooth
Dollodon honours Louis Dollo, the Belgian palaeontologist who studied the famous Iguanodon skeletons from Bernissart in Belgium. The second half of the name is the Greek word for "tooth", a common ending for iguanodontian names. It was proposed for the more slender Bernissart iguanodontian specimens that were once assigned to Iguanodon.
