Diluvicursor
dih-LOO-vih-KUR-sor /dɪˌluːvɪˈkɜːrsər/
Accepted genus
flood runner
- diluvium · Latin · flood
- cursor · Latin · runner
The name combines the Latin "diluvium" (flood) and "cursor" (runner), giving "flood runner". It refers to the fossil skeleton having been buried in what looks like a flood-deposited channel setting, and to its build as a small, agile, running ornithopod. The species name, D. pickeringi, honours David Pickering.
