Accepted genus
Eastern Sichuan hollow tail
- Chuandong · Chinese · eastern Sichuan
- koilos · Greek · hollow
- oura · Greek · tail
The name combines "Chuandong", a Chinese name for eastern Sichuan, where the fossils were found, with the existing dinosaur name Coelurus, meaning "hollow tail". It was chosen because the animal was thought to resemble Coelurus, a small, lightly built theropod. The type species is C. primitivus.
