- sauros · Greek · lizard
Inosaurus is named after the In Abangharet locality in Niger, where the fossils were discovered, combined with the Greek word "sauros" meaning lizard. The name therefore translates roughly as "In lizard" or "lizard from In (Abangharet)." It was a small theropod dinosaur from the Saharan region of Africa.

Inosaurus tedreftensis was named by Lapparent in 1960 based on very fragmentary remains (vertebrae and limb fragments) from Niger. It is widely regarded as a nomen dubium because the material is too incomplete to confidently diagnose the genus or assign it to a more specific theropod group. It is thought to represent a small coelurosaur-grade theropod.
