Dahalokely
dah-HAH-loh-KEH-lee /dɑˌhɑloʊˈkɛli/
Accepted genus
small bandit
- dahalo · Malagasy · bandit, outlaw
- kely · Malagasy · small
The name comes from Malagasy words meaning "small bandit". "Dahalo" refers to the bandits, or cattle rustlers, of northern Madagascar. "Kely" means small. The authors chose it because the animal was a small theropod and the fossils were found in a region the Dahalo people have long roamed.

Dahalokely is a theropod, probably an abelisauroid. It is known only from a partial, fragmentary skeleton. The only named species is D. tokana. Its stage range is uncertain, so I have left the stage fields blank.
