Accepted genus
Jinsha River lizard
- Chinshakiang · Chinese (Wade-Giles-style romanisation) · Jinsha River ('Golden Sand River')
- sauros · Greek · lizard
The name combines "Chinshakiang", an older spelling of the Jinsha River (Jinshajiang) in Yunnan, China, with the Greek word for lizard. It refers to the region near the Jinsha River where the type specimen was found. The type species, C. chunghoensis, is named after the Chunghao (Zhonghe) area.

Known from fragmentary remains (partial skull and some postcranial bones). It is generally regarded as a basal sauropodomorph, and some analyses place it as an early sauropod. Its exact position is debated. The type species is C. chunghoensis. I am not certain of the exact geologic stage.
